The Center for MedTech Excellence is a novel partnership between the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), the Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership (GaMEP), and the Global Center for Medical Innovation (GCMI). Its mission is to provide expertise in product realization, technology, and manufacturing to create job growth in Georgia through the commercialization of high-tech products and services in the field of medical device technologies that can compete on a global scale and improve the human condition.

The Center for MedTech Excellence provides a reimagined, comprehensive approach for Concept to Commercialization and sustainable innovation, which is crucial for cultivating more agile healthcare organizations. In 2021, the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) announced a bold ten-year strategic plan for “developing leaders who advance technology and improve the human condition”. Celebrating collaboration and championing innovation are core values for this novel partnership which promises to amplify the impact of the Economic Development Administration’s (EDA) Venture Challenge (EDA-HDQ-OIE-2021-B2S).

The Center for MedTech Excellence taps into expert resources at the ATDC, GCMI, and GaMEP, providing no-cost assistance to achieve and accelerate commercialization.

Since the Center for MedTech Excellence is fairly new and still refining their processes when working with companies, RIF Robotics is a beta client of the Center for MedTech Excellence. In collaboration with the Center for MedTech Excellence, RIF Robotics has become a ScaleUp Lab member of ATDC; GCMI has provided consulting services to RIF Robotics related to potential FDA regulations and technology feasibility; and GaMEP has provided a competitive landscape report and guidance on identifying potential advisors.
